Draymond Green’s bold prediction for Thunder-Mavericks series will fire up Luka Doncic

The NBA playoffs are into the second round now and there have been a lot of good series so far. One that is getting underway on Tuesday night is Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks vs. the top seed in the West, the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder cruised past the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round, and the Mavericks took down the Los Angeles Clippers in six games in round one. This should be a good series, and Draymond Green is picking Doncic and the Mavericks to win it.

Oklahoma City is a slight favorite in this series, but it is expected to be closer than most series that feature the one seed vs. the five seed. The Mavericks have Luka Doncic who is one of the most skilled players in the league, but the Thunder have no shortage of talent either. It should be a tight series.

One area of the game that Draymond Green thinks the Mavericks have the advantage is size. He thinks that will play a big role in the series as well as physicality from Dallas.

“I actually got Dallas winning this series in five-six games at best,” Green said on his podcast. “The reason I have Dallas winning that way is I just don’t think OKC is big enough for Dallas. Dallas has length, when you look at PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford and Luka [Doncic], they also have girth. OKC has length, but they’re mostly skinny guys. Dallas’ physicality in this series will actually make the difference. They’re as good, if not better, offensively. I don’t think Dallas is better defensively, but with their length and with their physicality I think that will make them better defensively.”

Size and physicality will definitely be a big thing to keep an eye on in this series. Luka Doncic especially is going to be hard for the Thunder to guard.

The race to the finish line in the West is going to be good

The Mavericks and Thunder will get their series going on Tuesday, but the other series in the West has already had two games played, and it has been a bit of a surprise so far. The Denver Nuggets are taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the defending champs dropped each of the first two games at home. Denver was the favorite to win the West coming into the series, but the Timberwolves are now the favorite as they head home with a 2-0 lead.

At this point, it looks like the winner of this Mavericks-Thunder series will take on the Timberwolves, but there is obviously a lot of time for that to change. The Nuggets are definitely in big trouble as they need to find a way to win on the road and get this series back to Denver, but it can certainly be done.

Luka Doncic and the Mavericks are hitting the road for game one on Tuesday night as the first two games of the series will be at home for the Thunder. The game will get going at 9:30 ET, and Oklahoma City is favored by 4.5 points.
