Andy Madley will referee the FA Cup final between Manchester United and Man City on Saturday 15 May.

The official from West Riding FA will take charge of the showpiece event at Wembley later this month. Following the news that he will take centre stage for the final, the referee has spoken about his pride when receiving the call.

“It’s an absolute delight and honour to receive this appointment,” Madley told TheFA.com.

“Domestically, it’s the biggest game of any referee’s career, the one we all dream of when we complete the referee course. I can only imagine what it will be like to lead the two teams out in front of a sold-out Wembley.

“To receive this appointment off the back of my hard work this season is truly humbling.”

Madley has took charge of three United fixtures this season. The first was our dramatic 2-1 win over Brentford in October. He was also referee for February’s 3-0 win over West Ham, as well as the 3-1 reverse fixture to Man City in March.

Harry Lennard and Nick Hopton are the assistant referees, while Simon Hooper will be the fourth official.

VAR will be took over by Michael Oliver, with Peter Bankes in the support role and Stuart Burt as the assistant.
