Pedro Porro believes his Tottenham teammate Cristian Romero is the best centre-back in the world.

Ange Postecoglou made a great start to life at the North London club. Spurs were on course for a top-four finish but things have fallen apart in recent weeks and with just one game to go, Spurs will be looking to ensure they finish fifth.

While the recent results haven’t been that great, it has been a season of progression at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. They have been playing an attractive and attacking brand of football and some of their players have been impressive under the Australian manager.

Cristian Romero has been a standout performer for the North London club and his teammate Pedro Porro has hailed his efforts.

During a recent interview with the Premier League, the Spanish international said: “He’s the best centre-back in the world”.

Spurs do not have the best defensive record in the ongoing season. They have conceded 61 goals in their 37 league outings, and a few teams from the bottom half of the points table have a better defensive record than Tottenham.

Their collective performances as a defensive unit might not have reached the expected levels but Porro who arrived at the club in the winter of 2023 believes Romero has been a standout performer for them. The Argentine World Cup winner has been involved in 32 league games and he has even scored five goals.

The 26-year-old was made the vice-captain of Tottenham last summer and the decision seems to have worked wonders for them. He has put in consistent performances in the heart of the defence and he will continue to be a key figure for the team going forward.
